Old Bartender New Venue

Here I am, leaving my studio only to follow my old bartender Ashley from Gypsy Bar to her new gig at Hall and Oates in greenpoint.  This is an interesting venue with a rotating beer 20 beer selection with prosecco on tap.

Beer: Greenport Harbor Summer Ale
Brewing Co: Greenpoirt Harbor Brewing, Co.
Location: Greenport, NY
Beer Type - Summer Ale

ABV 5.3

After looking at the long list of beers on the floor to ceiling chalkboard, I start with the Greenport Harbor Summer Ale .  When it arrived it looked like a pilsner served with two fingers of head with no aroma, but hoppy head.  This is a light beer, nice malty overture, sweet finish, carbonated, lagered for a while.  Fits the palette in the middle where the orange bloosm honey comes in then finishes with a climax of the flavor. Finishing slighly malty and is served up with a 5.3 ABV making this a good summer beer.

Beer: Domane Dupage
Brewing Co. Two Brothers Brewing Company
Location: Warrenville, IL
Beer Type: French/ Belgian Sytle Saison
ABV : 5.9

Back to the chalkboard for another and Ashley suggest that i try the Two brothers domane dupage.
The Domane Dupage is a french style ale with lots of unique flavors featured in this malty ale.  It has very light and only slightly carbonated composition, brown color, with a dry malty sweet aftertaste. The body of the beer’s flavor comes at the end of shallow making the Domane Dupage easy to drink.  Only slightly above the Summer ale with 5.9 ABV.

If you are in greenpoint you should stop in Hall and Oates and see their beer list and possibly try something new.

Heavy Seas Loose Cannon IPA

Beer: Loose Cannon IPA
Brewing Co: Heavy Seas Brewing Company
Beer Type - Indian Pale Ale
ABV 7.25

Last year was the first time I had the chance to experience Heavy Sea’s and it was delicious! I found it at a little bar near my hotel in downtown Baltimore and actually drank quite a few of them.  The Loose Cannon IPA is the flag ship beer for the Heavy Sea brewing company.  The Loose Cannon IPA features a rich citrus and hop aroma with a big hop flavor making it easy to drink.  This hops flavor comes from the enormous amount of hops used in the brewing: over three pounds per barrel.  The flavor truly comes from the way three pounds of hops were hopped, in a kettle, then hop backed and also dry hopped.

When my first Loose cannon arrived it featured a very hoppy aroma with a cloudy yellowish orange color.  The pour featured almost no head and the first taste was one of the best I have had come across my lips.  With a 7.25 ABV this makes the Loose Cannon not only a drinkable beer but a summer beer that will to your relaxation.

Beer: Great Pumpkin (Mutiny Fleet)
Brewing Co. Heavy Seas Brewing Company
Beer Type: Spiced Pumpkin Ale
ABV 8.25

I first experience the Great Pumpkin in Grand Rapids, Michigan after trying Troeg's imperial pumpkin ale and I fell in love with my very first pumpkin ale.  The pumpkin flavor was not to over powering and mixed well with the nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and all spice to create pure magic in your mouth.  I never found this beer on tap, but poured from its larger bottle it featured a beautiful cooper color and poured with little head into my pint glass.  The spices, malts, and pumpkin flavoring created an aroma close to pumpkin pie.

The next time, I came across this beer was when my gallery in Maryland said they were selling it over twitter.  It the moment, I called and had a few bottle set aside for me  which my grandmother later picked up for me.  I felt like a little kid getting all the toys they requested for Christmas.  Needless to say, but I really enjoy this beer!
